SK Hynix Q2 Operating Profit at 60.5 Trillion Won, Revenue Misses Estimates
Odaily reports that SK Hynix announced its second-quarter earnings, with an operating profit of 60.5 trillion Korean Won, below the market estimate of 64 trillion Won; revenue was 79 trillion Won, missing the market estimate of 84 trillion Won.
The company stated that the average selling price of DRAM in Q2 increased by about 30% compared to Q1. It expects Q3 DRAM shipments to grow by approximately 10% quarter-over-quarter and plans to expand HBM4 supply in the second half of the year.
SK Hynix forecasts a 20%-30% year-over-year growth in DRAM market demand in 2026 and a 10%-20% growth in NAND market demand, while planning to increase 2026 capital expenditure to the high end of the 40 trillion Won range.
Musk's Net Worth Nearly Halved from Peak, Still Exceeds $700 Billion
Odaily reports that since SpaceX's stock price peaked in June, Elon Musk's wealth has lost approximately $650 billion, with Tesla and SpaceX stock prices continuing to decline. However, even after the significant drop, Musk's net worth still exceeds $700 billion. Investors remain focused on whether AI-driven growth can support high valuations.
trade.xyz to Fully Compensate Losses from Liquidations Caused by SKHYNIX Price Anomaly
Odaily reports that trade.xyz stated on X platform that on July 27th at 23:01 UTC, the SKHYNIX mark price dropped from $1127.9 to $917.25. The price was based on an executed trade and forwarded by multiple independent data providers. The XYZ oracle was operational in external pricing, tracking a primary Korean pre-market trading venue, and the oracle system operated as specified. While the system functioned as designed, users expressed dissatisfaction with the triggered liquidations. Trade[XYZ] has decided to compensate for liquidation losses attributable to this anomaly. Eligibility requirements will be announced soon, and distribution is expected to be completed within the next few days. This decision is a one-time, discretionary measure and does not guarantee similar future actions. trade.xyz also stated it will further improve its pricing system to handle tail events and expedite the review of price formation, including reassessing assumptions about external trading venues and considering price formation in its own order book.
US Senate Aims to Advance Procedural Vote on Clarity Act Before August Recess
Odaily reports that U.S. Senate Republicans aim to push the Clarity Act to a procedural vote before the August recess, but face obstacles including a tight legislative schedule, wavering votes from some Republican senators, and Democratic concerns over the Trump family's crypto earnings. The bill's fate hinges on moderate Democrat votes, but progressive Senator Elizabeth Warren has warned that supporting it would compromise with special interests and potentially benefit the Trump family. The core dispute remains the ethics clause; Democrats demand limits on Trump's profits from crypto businesses. Senator Ruben Gallego of Arizona is working with Republican Senator Thom Tillis of North Carolina on a counter-proposal that would include a mechanism for state attorneys general to jointly enforce the law with the Department of Justice.

Correlation Between US Tech Stocks and Korean Stock Market at Highest Since 2021
Odaily reports that according to data from asset manager Rayliant, the 60-day correlation between South Korea's KOSPI index and the Nasdaq 100 has recently climbed to around 0.50, the highest level since 2021. Market participants warn that this tighter relationship also carries risks, as the rising correlation erodes the diversification and risk-hedging benefits investors traditionally seek by holding both US and Korean stocks. South Korean Mortgage Rates Hit Highest in Over Two and a Half Years
Odaily reports, citing Yonhap News, that Bank of Korea data released on Tuesday showed bank household mortgage rates rose for the second consecutive month due to rising market interest rates, reaching the highest level in two years and seven months. The average rate for non-mortgage household loans was 5.72%, up 0.23 percentage points from the previous month. The Bank of Korea stated that retail lending rates have been rising in recent months due to higher market interest rates. Earlier this month, the Bank of Korea raised rates for the first time in three and a half years.

SK Hynix: No Signs of AI Investment Slowdown, Will Solidify HBM Leadership
Odaily reports that SK Hynix stated in an analyst call that it currently sees no signs of a slowdown in AI investment and expects AI infrastructure investment to remain robust beyond 2027.
The company stated that long-term supply agreements will not lead to an oversupply, as these agreements are typically for 5-year terms with terms varying by customer. SK Hynix said it will further solidify its leading position in HBM through long-term agreements.
SK Hynix expects higher bit shipment growth in the second half of the year compared to the first half. The product sales mix impacted the average selling price in Q2. The company is currently on track for mass production of HBM4E starting in 2027.
Apple Becomes Second Company to Reach $5 Trillion Market Cap
Odaily reports that Apple (AAPL.O) became the second company in history to reach a $5 trillion market capitalization. On Tuesday, Apple's stock price rose as much as 1.8% to $342.89, pushing its market cap above $5 trillion for the first time. The stock price later pulled back. Amazon Adjusts AI Strategy, Will Gradually Phase Out Most of Its Internal Models
Odaily reports that according to sources, Amazon (AMZN.O) is undergoing a comprehensive overhaul of its AI strategy, phasing out many internal models, restructuring teams, and concentrating engineers on a new strategy to compete in the frontier space. This restructuring indicates Amazon is refocusing its AI strategy. Instead of dispersing resources across multiple text, image, and video models, the company is consolidating engineering talent and limited computing resources on its highest-priority projects.
According to sources, Amazon is gradually phasing out most of its flagship models, including the high-end Premier and Omni models, the Reel video generation model, and the Canvas image generation model. Some Amazon employees described these models as being in a "KTLO (Keep The Lights On)" state. Resources are reportedly shifting from the existing Nova models towards a new frontier model project led by researcher Peter Abel, internally called "Frontier Model Research" (FMR), which has become the company's top priority this year. Under this initiative, Amazon is developing a brand new flagship foundation model expected to be unveiled at the re:Invent annual conference this fall. (Business Insider)
SpaceX Down 20% from IPO Price, Market Cap Evaporates $1.2 Trillion from Peak
Odaily reports that due to investors flocking to safe havens and avoiding risky tech companies, SpaceX (SPCX.O) stock has fallen 20% from its IPO price, dropping over 5% in early Tuesday trading to around $107, extending its sharp decline from peaks in the days following its IPO last month. Its market cap has evaporated $1.2 trillion from its peak on June 16th, marking one of the largest market cap vaporizations in history.
Recently, complex geopolitical situations and concerns about valuation inflation driven by massive spending within the AI ecosystem have hit many large companies in the sector. SpaceX investors are also watching the potential impact of the lock-up expiration for 9.115 billion shares worth $116 billion on August 6th. (Golden Ten)
Coinbase CEO Urges US Senate to Advance CLARITY Act Vote
Odaily reports that Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong posted on X platform on July 27th, urging the US Senate to advance a vote on the CLARITY Act, stating the bill was formed through years of bipartisan negotiations. Armstrong stated that the CLARITY Act would strengthen enforcement powers, introduce new consumer protections, and provide a federal regulatory framework for the digital asset industry. He noted that the US currently lacks federal laws protecting consumers or supporting the industry's development in the country. On July 22nd, US Senate Republicans released an updated version of the CLARITY Act, covering disclosure standards, registration requirements, anti-fraud provisions, and expanded anti-money laundering obligations for digital asset market participants. The CEOs of BlackRock, Fidelity Investments, Charles Schwab, and Goldman Sachs, David Solomon, have expressed support for the bill.

Solana Plans to Increase Mainnet Block Compute Limit by 66% to 100 Million CU
Odaily reports that SolanaFloor announced on X platform that Solana plans to increase the mainnet block compute limit from 60 million CU to 100 million CU, an increase of approximately 66%, within 24 hours. The related upgrade, SIMD-0286, is expected to activate at the start of Epoch 1009.
Odaily reports that Hyperliquid co-founder iliensinc responded to the abnormal SK Hynix price quote on Trade.xyz earlier today. He stated that Hyperliquid is a permissionless blockchain, allowing different teams to deploy and operate markets based on its infrastructure. The xyz:SKHYNIX perpetual contract was deployed and operated by the XYZ team, which is currently investigating the situation and will provide updates once a conclusion is reached.
He also explained that the HIP-3 market deployer is responsible for providing data such as the mark price, oracle price, and external perpetual contract price. For example, in the pricing mechanism of a BTC perpetual contract, the protocol provides the median of the latest on-chain trade price, best bid, and best ask as one of three price components. The other two prices are provided by the deployer, collectively influencing the final mark price.
Odaily reports that Lighter founder Vladimir Novakovski published an article on X earlier this morning titled "Equity vs. Token."
In the article, Novakovski clarified that all economic value generated by Lighter will belong to token holders.
Lighter's initial intention was always to use venture capital to bootstrap the project until the token generation event (TGE). Lighter is a US company with only one entity – the entity that issued equity in the years leading up to the TGE is the same entity that issued tokens at the TGE. Apart from converting into the token cap table at the TGE, the equity cap table no longer serves any future function.
More specifically, Lighter completed its final equity funding round a few months before the TGE. The round was approximately 5x oversubscribed, attracting over $300 million in capital interest for a $68 million allocation. At that time, all equity stakeholders (including early investors and former employees) were informed of the future plan – that their equity value would solely be represented by their holdings on the token cap table – and were given the opportunity to sell their equity stakes. Anyone who disagreed with the "all value accrues to the token" philosophy could easily exit at a higher valuation. Ultimately, less than 1% of equity holders chose to sell their stakes
