This morning, The Beacon, a blockchain game funded by the Arbitrum Foundation and commonly known as "灯塔" in the Chinese community, announced on platform X that Season 1 has officially launched, with a total prize pool of 7.7 million BCN tokens. Below, Odaily Planet Daily provides a step-by-step participation guide and a first-impression game strategy.
Step-by-Step Participation Guide
STEP 1. Enter the game interface (link: https://app.thebeacon.gg/season-one), click "Sign in" to log in using a Web3 wallet.
STEP 2. For a better gaming experience, download the game from the EPIC store (you can also try the web version first).
STEP 3. Click "PLAY" to enter the game. Use "W, S, A, D" to move your character "up, down, left, right".
Additionally, you can purchase the "Starter Pack" for $19.9, which includes 2000 Glint Coins, a Premium Chest, and other rewards.
Game Strategy
For the first season of The Beacon, the current participation methods are shown in the image below, which will be explained in detail in the following sections.
Gameplay Guide
Currently, there are only two paths available to play in Season 1 of The Beacon. First, keep going up from the main game page to reach the "Dungeon". Clear the dungeon to obtain Shadow Shards, which can be exchanged for Umbra Chests.
Each dungeon entry consumes 20 points of stamina (user starts with 100 stamina). You can choose between a bow and a short sword as your weapon to challenge the game and earn Shadow Shards.
Second, keep going right from the main game page to reach Kraken Klash. Here, you bet on which grid the Kraken will land on. Guessing correctly rewards you with Goblin Tokens (NPCs in Kraken Klash display exchange rates for Shadow Shards, Goblin Tokens, and Glint Coins).
Chests & Rewards
Season 1 rewards are divided into Cosmetics and BCN Tokens. For free-to-play players, cosmetics are account-bound; for premium players, cosmetics are NFTs. Players can become premium players by purchasing the "Starter Pack".
Additionally, chests are the primary means of obtaining rewards in Season 1. There are 3 types of chests:
1. Umbra Chests: Obtained by collecting Shadow Shards. Contains cosmetics and a small amount of BCN tokens.
Umbra Chests come in free and premium versions. In the free version, the chest rarity probabilities are: Common: 59.06%; Rare: 30.94%; Epic: 8.00%; Legendary: 2.00%, dropping 1 to 3 cosmetics.
The premium version has the same rarity probabilities and cosmetic drop count but additionally guarantees BCN tokens: a 65% chance for 0 BCN; a 25% chance for 1 BCN; a 9% chance for 5 BCN; a 1% chance for 30 BCN.
2. Kraken Chests: Obtained by collecting Goblin Coins. Contains exclusive cosmetics and a large amount of BCN tokens.
Kraken Chests come in free and premium versions. In the free version, the chest rarity probabilities are: Common: 37%; Rare: 44%; Epic: 13%; Legendary: 6%, dropping 3 cosmetics.
The premium version has the same rarity probabilities and cosmetic drop count but additionally guarantees BCN tokens: a 37% chance for 5 BCN; a 30% chance for 10 BCN; a 22% chance for 21 BCN; an 8.5% chance for 50 BCN; a 2.5% chance for 210 BCN.
3. Glint Chests: Obtained by collecting Glint Coins. Contains exclusive cosmetics and a large amount of BCN tokens.
Glint Chests are only available in a premium version. Rarity probabilities are: Common: 37%; Rare: 44%; Epic: 13%; Legendary: 6%, dropping 3 cosmetics. Additionally, BCN reward probabilities are: a 48% chance for 4 BCN; a 30% chance for 7 BCN; a 15% chance for 12 BCN; a 6% chance for 30 BCN; a 1% chance for 100 BCN.
In summary, the game features 4 types of tokens: Shadow Shards, Goblin Coins, Glint Coins, and BCN tokens. The stable way to earn rewards is to farm the dungeon for Shadow Shards and exchange them for Umbra Chests; participating in Kraken Klash is a "game of chance" that requires Goblin Coins (which can be obtained via Shadow Shards). Winning can earn more Goblin Coins, while losing means losing your stake with no guarantee.
