Coinbase urges US Department of Justice to establish unified cryptocurrency regulatory framework
2hours ago
According to Odaily Planet Daily, Coinbase Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal has sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Justice, requesting that federal regulators prioritize state regulations that conflict with national crypto policy and establish a unified regulatory framework. Although the SEC has dropped its charges against Coinbase, Oregon has filed a lawsuit against the trading platform, accusing it of encouraging the sale of unregistered crypto assets.
Grewal said fragmented state regulation uses “novel, expansive, and flawed” interpretations of securities laws that hinder innovation and harm consumers. Coinbase has escalated its Oregon case to federal court and filed a lawsuit against the state’s governor.
