French regulator fines Google a record €325 million

France's data protection authority fined US search giant Google (GOOG.O) a record 325 million euros ($380 million) on Wednesday for failing to comply with regulations on internet cookies. The regulator said Google was fined for displaying ads between Gmail users' emails without their consent and for placing cookies without valid consent when users created a Google account.
