Analysis: Minutes are a bit outdated, Powell's speech this week is the key

According to Odaily Planet Daily, Capital Economics analyst Paul Ashworth wrote: "The minutes of the Fed's July meeting showed that, with the exception of two members who wanted to cut interest rates in July and voted against, other Fed officials generally agreed to keep interest rates unchanged. In this regard, this is a slightly hawkish signal for the September meeting. However, since the minutes were released before the dismal July employment report, it is difficult to get many clues about the future from the minutes. Given the subsequent data release, the minutes are obviously outdated, and Fed Chairman Powell's speech at Jackson Hole this week should reveal more about whether a September rate cut is a foregone conclusion."
