On July 6th, Li Bojie, a former Huawei "Genius Youth," drew attention for publicly criticizing his interview experience at DeepSeek. However, the larger controversy that ensued was a public dispute between him and his former investment firm, ABCDE Capital, concerning their entrepreneurial project, Metagent.

Li Bojie detailed his interview experience at DeepSeek on social media. According to him, after passing the written test, he was put on hold for nearly half a month, only receiving a scheduled interview after repeated follow-ups. The interview required completing two rounds of coding tests. During the second round, the interviewer felt that Li was discussing "research problems" and repeatedly questioned the feasibility of engineering implementation, showing a lack of understanding.

During the coding segment, the interviewer noticed Li frequently glancing at his left screen and immediately accused him of plagiarism, stating that the interview could not proceed unless he proved his innocence. Li Bojie claimed that this accusation made him feel "seriously offended" and he decided to end the interview on the spot. Subsequently, he called for the matter to be shared widely on public platforms.

According to public information from Baidu Baike, Li Bojie was born in 1992, graduated from the Special Class for the Gifted Young of the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), and holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science. During his Ph.D., he published papers at top conferences such as SOSP and SIGCOMM. In 2017, he was awarded the Microsoft Research Fellowship. In 2019, he was selected for Huawei's first "Genius Youth" program, a group of only 8 people nationwide, joining the 2012 Central Hardware Lab at grade P20. He served as an Assistant Scientist and later as a Deputy Chief Expert, working on the optimization of the Ascend AI chip and distributed training of large-scale models. In July 2023, he left Huawei to found Logenic AI (now Pine AI).

The very next day after Li Bojie's public criticism of his interview experience, a post by Du Jun, co-founder of Web3 investment firm ABCDE Capital, shifted the public's focus to another dimension.

On the afternoon of July 7th, Du Jun publicly accused Li Bojie, calling him "the most unscrupulous founder I have ever worked with." Li Bojie responded that evening, and Du Jun added further clarifications in the early hours of the 8th, as the two debated the details of the Metagent project.

The core of the dispute revolves around post-investment responsibilities. In 2024, Li Bojie founded the Web3+AI project Metagent, positioning it as a token-driven no-code platform allowing users to create and tokenize AI agents, combining AI agents with blockchain tokenomics. In February 2024, ABCDE Capital participated in an investment with a total agreement of $1.5 million. The first tranche of $500,000 was received, with the remaining $1 million conditional on further milestones.

Du Jun stated that the quality of the Demo shown by the team in June 2024 was extremely poor, and the project's social media account had only published slightly over a dozen posts, with progress far below expectations. From July 2024, Li Bojie stopped responding to investor questions, deleted his Telegram account, and left the group, handing over communication to co-founder Zhuang Siyuan. Subsequently, the investment side repeatedly requested complete financial statements but never received adequate responses. Du Jun said that while he could accept project failure, he could not accept the founders taking the money and running.

Li Bojie responded that only $500,000 of the investment had been received, but the company's equity was recorded based on the full $1.5 million amount. He claimed that due to the lack of full funding, he and his co-founder voluntarily took pay cuts, and recruitment and development were hindered. He stated that in October 2024, due to family reasons, he was unable to leave mainland China, and also believed the Web3 project involved compliance risks, so he left Metagent with the board's approval. He claimed that before leaving he had always fulfilled his periodic reporting duties, and his subsequent projects also stayed clear of Web3, AI infrastructure, and other related fields as agreed.

Former ABCDE researcher HarryM posted, stating that during communications in October 2024, the team still presented a rough Demo. Their main concern was when the remaining $1 million would arrive, and they also inquired about the possibility of issuing a Meme coin, appearing dismissive of the resources and advice provided by the investor over the past year.

Ye Su, a partner at ArkStream Capital, also publicly stated that Li Bojie had approached his firm during the fundraising process. The team initially expressed interest due to the project's strong background. However, during due diligence, they found Li Bojie was intentionally blurring the lines between actual investors and funds that had only expressed interest. Moreover, the contract terms he sent were very amateurish, and the team's stance on the token unlock schedule was inconsistent, sometimes saying "we'll decide later" and other times changing to "we can set it now." Consequently, the firm decided to abandon the investment.

Metagent was selected as a potential project in the BNB Chain Hackvolution Hackathon in September 2023, winning a $2,000 reward. In June 2024, it won an award in the Decentralized AGI track at the BeWater AI Crypto Hackathon.

Its last social media post dates back to June 15, 2024, meaning the account has been inactive for over two years, effectively indicating that the project has stalled.

With the dissolution of Metagent, Li Bojie moved on to a new project, Pine AI. Founded in late 2024, the project, formerly known as Logenic AI, is a consumer-facing autonomous AI agent platform. After users submit task descriptions, the AI agent can handle digital errands such as making phone calls, negotiating bills, canceling subscriptions, and applying for refunds. The platform emphasizes privacy protection and holds compliance certifications.

According to information on the project's official website, Pine AI currently has over 150,000 users, a 93% negotiation success rate, and has saved users over $3 million in total. It completed a $25 million Series A funding round in December 2025. Li Bojie joined as an advisor in June 2024 and officially became the Chief Scientist in February 2025. He recently left the project because his research interests shifted towards foundational models. He explicitly stated that he is not the founder of Pine AI and that his departure was purely due to a change in his research focus.
