Odaily News - The UK government has released its first official statistics on taxable crypto asset gains, with 240 individuals each declaring over £1 million in capital gains for the 2024-25 tax year, totaling £717 million—accounting for more than half of the £1.38 billion declared by 17,600 individuals.
HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) stated that 17,600 individuals declared £13.8 billion in proceeds from crypto asset disposals and £1.38 billion in taxable gains, averaging approximately £78,000 per person. Of these, around 87% were male and 13% female. Selling, exchanging, spending tokens, or gifting assets to others may all trigger tax obligations.
HMRC has issued 81,000 crypto tax letters over the past 12 months, a 25% increase from approximately 65,000, and nearly three times the 27,714 letters issued in the 2023-24 tax year. James Murray, Financial Secretary to the Treasury and Paymaster General, stated that gains from crypto assets are subject to tax just like other gains.
The UK plans to adjust tax treatment for certain DeFi transactions starting April 6, 2027, with related lending and liquidity pool transactions typically deferring capital gains tax until an economic disposal occurs. This is expected to affect around 700,000 people. HMRC estimates that its crypto tax compliance and education campaigns have generated an additional £168 million in capital gains tax revenue in 2024-25. (Bitcoin.com News)

Odaily Planet Daily News: Polygon has disclosed multiple previously undisclosed security vulnerabilities that were fixed through the Austin and Kyoto hard forks, which could have affected its proof-of-stake network. The vulnerabilities involve Polygon's Bor and Heimdall clients, including denial-of-service risks, validator resource exhaustion, and defects affecting checkpoint and milestone processing. Polygon stated that the fixes were privately tested before being deployed to the mainnet and publicly disclosed. The most severe issue involved Heimdall, where specially crafted transactions could force validators to perform excessive processing work, thereby disrupting the network. The Austin hard fork also fixed two denial-of-service risks in Bor that could slow down block processing or cause node crashes. Polygon stated that these vulnerabilities were not exploited on the mainnet, and the fixes were proactively completed before the vulnerability details were made public.

Odaily News: The European digital currency market is taking shape with a parallel development landscape between a central bank digital euro and private euro stablecoins. Revolut has previously launched phased testing of EURR in Denmark, Poland, and Portugal. This euro stablecoin runs on Ethereum and is issued by Bridge Building, a Stripe subsidiary. The ECB has emphasized that the digital euro will feature a highly privacy-centric design, with offline payment information known only to the transacting parties, and online transactions cannot be directly linked to individuals by the Eurosystem. Europe is advancing its digital payment ecosystem through both public digital currency and private stablecoins, aiming to reduce reliance on dollar-pegged stablecoins and non-European payment infrastructure.
