Ethereum staking hits record high of 43.8 million ETH

Odaily: Bitwise's Q4 staking report shows that Ethereum staking reached 43.8 million ETH, accounting for 35.9% of total supply and hitting an all-time high; net staking inflows in Q3 were 1.99 million ETH, marking six consecutive quarters of net inflows. Solana's active staking increased to 440.5 million SOL. In Q3, Ethereum's average annualized staking yield fell from 2.81% in Q2 to 2.63%, with 96.3% coming from ETH issuance; Solana's gross staking yield dropped from 6.38% to about 6%, with nearly 90% coming from token issuance. The above yields are not net of service provider fees and are not equivalent to the actual yields received by customers.

Coinbase stated that staking ETFs and digital asset treasuries are broadening participation channels. Kean Gilbert, head of institutional relations at the Lido Ecosystem Foundation, said that after custodians support staking, institutions can participate through existing custody relationships, and the focus of discussions has shifted to implementation issues such as validator decentralization, code audits, and the proportion of fund staking. Since ETH unstaking may take several weeks, while funds typically need to meet redemptions within one to two days, liquidity remains a constraint for institutions. Gilbert estimates that the average staking ratio for related products in Europe is only 50% to 60%; liquid staking tokens can provide an alternative exit channel, but actual sales depend on market liquidity and price.
