Lighter AMA: 50% of tokens allocated to the community, confirming the introduction of a token buyback mechanism.
Odaily Planet Daily reports that @Pilla_eth, Head of Marketing for the Lighter team, revealed some information about token issuance and product planning during an AMA (Ask Me Anything) event themed "Lighter TGE". He stated that Lighter's TGE and airdrop plan will take place in 2025, with the airdrop accounting for 25% of the total token supply. There is no lock-up period, and users do not need to manually claim the tokens; they will be directly distributed to the Lightner wallets of token holders. Of the total token supply, 50% will be allocated to the community. The team confirmed that a token buyback mechanism will be introduced, but the specific buyback scale has not yet been announced. More details about the token economic model will be gradually disclosed.
Regarding trading and the ecosystem, the LIT token will initially only be traded within the Lighter platform. Coinbase and Bybit have included LIT in their respective listing roadmaps, but the team emphasizes that they will not pay listing fees. Furthermore, the official team will not issue Lighter NFTs, but recognizes some community NFT projects, such as Fuego, and denies any meme coin airdrop plans. @Pilla_eth also revealed that Lighter is developing a mobile application, aiming for an experience comparable to mainstream CEX applications.
