According to crypto journalist Eleanor Terrett, the White House is considering appointing former CFTC Commissioner Jill Sommers and National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Chairman Kyle Hauptman as CFTC Chairmen. Both are reportedly supportive of cryptocurrencies.

Previously, due to the obstruction of Brian Quintenz's nomination confirmation, the White House has restarted the review of CFTC chairman candidates. Other candidates include Mike Selig of the SEC, Tyler Williams of the Treasury Department and Milbank lawyer Josh Sterling.
