Microsoft could face billions of dollars in EU fines over Bing AI

Odaily News Microsoft could face billions of dollars in fines in the EU over Bing AI. If Microsoft does not respond to the EU's request for information by May 27, it will face fines of up to 1% of its annual revenue in the EU. The EU posted on the X platform that it requires Microsoft to "provide information on the risks of generative AI on Bing in accordance with the Digital Services Act. Bing may bring risks associated with generative AI, such as so-called 'hallucinations', deep fakes, and automated manipulation services that can mislead voters." It is worth mentioning that these fines have not yet been levied, and as of now, Microsoft has not been found guilty of violating any EU laws, at least not those specifically related to this notice. Instead, this seems more like a polite notice to the public, indicating that the company has received a request for further information and will bear the consequences if ignored. (Cointelegraph)
