Odaily News: REI Network, a lightweight EVM-compatible chain, announced on Twitter that it will conduct a REI DAO hard fork upgrade at block height 15084585, which is expected to occur on September 11th at 10:00 Beijing time.
This upgrade includes the following:
1. Optimization of double-signing penalty logic for nodes: Validators who double-sign will be immediately frozen and block production will be stopped. The combined assessment of the community governance and the developer committee will determine the amount of the fine, which will then be voted on by the community for governance proposals.
2. Optimization of on-chain parameter governance mechanism: The governance process will be streamlined, with transparent and public proposals, voting results, and decision-making. By establishing a committee, users will have greater voting rights to participate in on-chain governance.
3. Support for BLS aggregated signatures: The upgrade allows for BLS signatures, which significantly reduces the size of block signatures compared to the previous ECDSA-SECP256K1 signatures.
This upgrade will bring the following benefits:
- Improved block broadcasting efficiency.
- Reduced block size.
- Increased security for validator account private keys.
- Lower penalties for unexpected block halts.
- Improved RIP process to encourage community governance participation.
