Google Launches Crypto Asset Custody Platform for Banks, Plans Commercial Launch in Early 2027
Google has launched a multi-party computation (MPC) custody platform aimed at helping banks and financial institutions safeguard cryptocurrencies and tokenized assets. The platform distributes private key shares across different environments so that no single party can hold the complete private key; before transactions are signed, spending limits, approved addresses, and multi-party authorization requirements can be verified according to institutional rules.
The service is currently in private preview and is planned for commercial availability in early 2027. Google said several major financial institutions have participated in testing; Alphabet has already used the technology to protect its digital assets on Solana and Ethereum, but did not disclose the assets held or the list of testing institutions.

French Senate Passes Bill on Automatic Exchange of Crypto Asset Tax Information
The French Senate passed a bill on first reading authorizing tax authorities to automatically exchange crypto asset transaction data with foreign counterparts. The bill was subsequently submitted to the National Assembly as Bill No. 3421 and still awaits completion of the legislative process.
The bill covers agreements on the exchange of crypto asset tax information and updates existing agreements on the exchange of financial account information. The crypto asset portion is based on the Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF) developed by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, which sets common standards for participating jurisdictions to collect and automatically exchange crypto transaction information.
France has already implemented the EU's Eighth Directive on Administrative Cooperation (DAC8) through its 2025 finance bill, requiring crypto service providers to report client identities and transaction data to tax authorities, which then share the information with the EU country where the user resides. French lawmakers are also discussing crypto tax adjustments in the 2027 budget; an amendment passed by the National Assembly on October 16 proposes taxing gains from conversions into specific fiat-pegged stablecoins starting January 1, 2027, but the measure has not yet become law.
Bank of England Opens Consultation on Clearing Tokenized Collateral
The Bank of England (BoE) has opened a consultation on central counterparties (CCPs) accepting digital versions of eligible collateral, stating that existing rules allow such assets to be used when they meet clearing standards. The proposed supervisory statement will clarify what CCPs need to explain when submitting applications under the current approval process and will not create new regulatory obligations.
The Bank of England stated that tokenized collateral must remain valuable, transferable, and realizable under stress scenarios, and that faster cross-jurisdictional asset transfers could help firms meet margin requirements. The consultation will close on February 12, 2027, and the central bank expects to publish its policy response and related rules later this quarter.
South Korea's ruling Democratic Party will meet with representatives from Upbit, Bithumb, Coinone, Korbit, and Gopax on Friday to discuss whether to delay the crypto tax scheduled to take effect in January 2027. The party has proposed a bill to postpone implementation to 2029, citing insufficient infrastructure and difficulties in obtaining transaction data.

SEC Enforcement Director: Closely Watching Insider Trading and Manipulation in Prediction Markets
David Woodcock, Director of Enforcement at the U.S. SEC, said in an interview that the SEC is closely monitoring fraud and securities violations in prediction markets, with insider trading and market manipulation being key concerns, and expects enforcement action in this area in the future. He noted that trading in prediction markets tied to key performance indicators or earnings data of public companies may fall within the SEC's regulatory scope. Currently, prediction markets such as Kalshi and Polymarket's U.S. operations are primarily regulated by the CFTC.
Tom Lee posted that Rick Rieder's view is worth endorsing: rate hikes cannot solve oil supply shocks and would worsen housing supply shortages; the increase in investment income brought by rate hikes would also push up demand. Therefore, calls for the Fed to raise rates may instead exacerbate inflation.
