BOB (Build on Bitcoin) announced the official launch of the first trustless, one-click native Bitcoin cross-chain channel, connecting native Bitcoin with institutional-grade wrapped Bitcoin (wBTC) issued by BitGo on 11 chains supported by LayerZero.

This seamless interoperability system enables users to easily access native Bitcoin through wBTC.OFT. Furthermore, through the BOB Gateway SDK, nearly 15,000 Dapps on 11 major blockchains, including Ethereum, Avalanche, Base, and BNB, can now access the massive liquidity and user base of native Bitcoin with one click. Previously, most of these 11 major public blockchains did not offer direct access to native Bitcoin.

BOB Gateway simplifies the complex cross-chain bridging process, enabling direct conversion of native BTC and providing users with easier access to the multi-chain DeFi ecosystem built around wBTC OFT. This integration, based on BOB's Bitcoin intent system and LayerZero's OFT standard, enables secure, programmable, and composable cross-chain Bitcoin liquidity. The combination of Bitcoin intent and universal messaging creates a highly capital-efficient interoperability model, a significant advancement following BOB's recent upgrade of wBTC to the LayerZero OFT standard.

LayerZero's wBTC.OFT standard is an omnichain implementation for Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC), allowing seamless and efficient cross-chain transfers and interoperability between different blockchains. This standard, backed by a burn-and-mint mechanism through LayerZero's cross-chain validation protocol and custodians like BitGo, ensures the liquidity and security of the asset, expanding the reach of WBTC to the broader blockchain ecosystem.

For institutions and individual users holding native BTC, BOB Gateway supports one-click conversion of assets to wBTC.OFT on 11 chains (for example, for DeFi deposits), or one-click repatriation of earnings to native BTC. Furthermore, nearly 15,000 Dapps on the 11 chains that have access to wBTC.OFT can now integrate the BOB Gateway SDK to enable one-click native BTC deposits. This will significantly reduce the operational complexity of DeFi, making complex position management, including revolving strategies, easily accessible to both institutional and retail investors, effectively promoting the large-scale adoption of Bitcoin in the DeFi world.

Nearly $2.3 billion in wBTC.OFT has already been transferred across LayerZero 67,000 times. With this upgrade, holders can convert native BTC directly into wBTC.OFT across chains, injecting new liquidity into the ecosystem and expanding access.
