Explanation of zkSync NFT airdrop: Does receiving this NFT grant eligibility for zkSync airdrop tokens?

On July 15th, zkSync announced an NFT airdrop for NFT players within its ecosystem. The first batch of 10,000 addresses have received the NFT airdrop. As a highly anticipated leading layer 2 solution, zkSync's move has sparked discussions within the community. Many speculate whether receiving this NFT entitles them to the zkSync airdrop tokens.
To answer this question, Trusta Labs analyzed the on-chain interactions of the 10,000 users who have received the NFT on the zksync Era.
Interactive Behavior Analysis
Number of Transactions
zkSync Era average number of transactions per user is 21. For this NFT airdrop, 70% of users have accumulated transaction counts >= 20, which is higher than the average. 15% of airdrop accounts have accumulated transactions <= 10, with 690 users even having <= 4 transactions.
Transaction Volume
More than half of the zkSync Era users have accumulated a transaction volume of 44 U. For this NFT airdrop, 15.4% of the addresses have a transaction volume <= 50 U, with even 530 addresses having a volume <= 10 U (far below average).
Gas fee Contribution
The median gas fee contribution of the zkSync Era network is 0.002 eth. For this NFT airdrop, 12.3% of the users have consumed gas fee lower than the median value.
Active Time
zkSync Era's average active weeks for the entire network is 3.6 weeks. Among the airdrop recipients, 25% have been active for less than 3 weeks, with only 700 of them active within one week.
Special Cases
" 0 " transaction "winning" address
We found the following three addresses that have no interaction records in the zkSync Era but still received the airdrop. These three addresses obviously do not meet the requirements for interacting with the top 100 NFTs. It is speculated that they may be official test addresses. It is recommended that @zksync provide official clarification to avoid misunderstanding.

Inactive addresses with only 1-2 transactions
In this airdrop, there are 118 addresses that have only 1 transaction in their history, and fortunately all of them are NFT transactions. There are 135 addresses that have only 2 transactions in their cumulative history.
Typical address: had only 1 transaction 3 months ago, but still got lucky with the NFT airdrop because the address is the fancy number 0x 0.

There is also capital aggregation behavior in the airdrop address.
Among the 10,000 addresses that received the NFT airdrop, there is also capital aggregation behavior between different addresses, possibly involving multiple accounts controlled by the same entity:
Cluster one: 0x01bffc8dc41e26d98c3cef8b045726726134d1d3 has made fund transfers to 7 addresses, and all 8 addresses received this NFT airdrop.

Witch Behavior Analysis
There were witch behaviors detected in the 10,000 addresses that received the airdrop in two different ways:
TrustScan Witch Detection
Using TrustScan to scan the behaviors of the airdrop addresses on the mainnet and Arbitrum, there were 1,408 witch addresses detected (witch rate > 14%).
Witch address one: 0x014ddd8696562c105b6013b078a45a9fed0bcd75
This address is part of a large network of 74 addresses. The mainnet fund is scheduled to occur within 3.5 hours on January 4, 2022, while the fund transfer on the Arbitrum network will happen within 7.8 hours on April 6, 2023.
Witch address two: 0x0d8969db749fa22c8107ff3871e30b2da246984c
This address is one of several clustering witch addresses that appeared multiple times in the Ethereum mainnet in a star-shaped fund network (obtaining funds from the same batch of addresses and then gathering funds to another batch of addresses). It appeared three times in group addresses for batch operations on Arbitrum.
668 addresses have all transactions occurred in the zkSync Era within 48 hours
Witch address 1: 0x05a450c625f31eaf736b69c7f05a9fb89db87fb0

This address has made 104 transactions within 48 hours, repeatedly performing storage and withdrawal of the same amount, with a consistent interval of 9 seconds. It is highly suspected to be a witch address operated by a script.

This address has conducted 97 transactions within 48 hours, repeatedly making deposits and withdrawals of the same amount, highly suspicious of being a scripted operation.

The address has performed a total of 34 transactions on zksync Era within 48 hours, with all transaction amounts equal to 0 and of no value.
Summary
We found that the rules for selecting airdrop addresses in this round of zkSync are single-minded and do not consider interaction value and activity. Many official airdrop addresses have a moderate overall contribution to zkSync Era (transaction volume, gas fees, and active time contribution is lower than average, or there may be obvious witch behavior). Airdrops are only intended to encourage user participation in the NFT ecosystem project, so receiving an NFT airdrop does not necessarily equate to receiving a token airdrop in the future. On the other hand, it is speculated that in addition to commonly used indicators such as transaction volume and amount, zkSync may also consider the diversity of contributions to the ecosystem when determining user rewards and airdrop rules.
