SharkTeam: On-chain data analysis of zkSync Era
On May 31, the total TVL of the zkSyncc Era ecosystem reached 350 million US dollars, accounting for 3.95% of the total TVL of all Layer 2 projects, ranking third. Although there is still a big gap compared with Arbitrum and Optimism, zkSync Era has only been online for 2 months, and the TVL has grown rapidly, which is worthy of attention.

zkSync is an Ethereum Layer 2 expansion solution launched by Matter Labs, which aims to solve the scalability problem of Ethereum. Its version 1.0 (Zksync Lite) was released in June 2020. Although the transaction cost of zkSync Lite is not high, but the speed is slow, the confirmation time is relatively long and it is not compatible with EVM. zkSync 2.0 (zkSync Era) has been upgraded from version 1.0, which improves transaction speed and greatly reduces costs. zkSync Era provides full support for EVM-compatible smart contracts, which means that developers can easily integrate existing The Ethereum smart contract deployed to zkSync Era.
zero-knowledge proofzero-knowledge proof+Rollup architecture provides a faster and cheaper transaction experience than the Ethereum mainnet. By moving most activity out of the Layer 1 network, it reduces network congestion and lowers transfer fees while maintaining Ethereum security and finality.
Currently, the user experience of zkSync Era is not satisfactory. For example, people frequently complain about high gas fees, transaction failures, and unstable slippage. The entire zkSyncc Era ecosystem mainly focuses on DEX interaction, and there are still few derivatives and lending projects. How does zkSync Era perform? The following is the on-chain data analysis of zkSync Era:
1. TVL
On March 24, the zkSync Era mainnet was opened to everyone. By April 14, in 20 days, the TVL reached 241 million US dollars, with an average daily increase of 10 million US dollars. On April 15, the TVL decreased by US$1.52 million compared with the previous day, and began to fluctuate. After May 17, the TVL began to gradually increase again. On May 31, the TVL of zkSync Era reached US$361 million.

2. Deposit Address
On June 2, the total number of zkSync Era deposit addresses was 723,000. Among them, the number of addresses that have interacted with both Arbitrum and Optimism is 309,471, accounting for 42.8%, and the number of addresses that have not interacted with them is 24,219, accounting for 3.35%. On March 25, the number of deposit addresses reached a peak of 41,341, and transactions were active at the end of March. In the number of daily deposit addresses, the ratio of old and new addresses is 4:1. Most addresses only make one transaction, and the number of addresses with repeated transactions is small.

3. Cross-chain transactions
The official zkSync Era bridge supports crossing from the Ethereum mainnet to zkSync Era, and allows any ERC 20 tokens to be converted. On May 31, the number of ETH transferred across the chain bridge reached a peak of 10,576.76. As of June 1, the total number of ETH cross-chained from ETH to zkSync Era has reached more than 300,000, with an average of 0.42 ETH per address.

4. Giant Whale Address
The figure below shows the top 20 giant whale addresses of the cross-chain bridge. The address 0x2c...8299 transferred 9523.7 ETH through the cross-chain bridge, ranking first. The number transferred by address 0x66...9de0 is 5500 pieces, ranking second. According to the number of transferred ETH, it can be found that the number of addresses less than 0.1 ETH is 443,944, accounting for 62% of the total number of addresses, the largest proportion. The number of 0.1-1 ETH addresses is 222,868, accounting for 31%, ranking second. The number of addresses with more than 10 ETH is 2196, less than 1%.
