BitKeep CEO: A letter to our users
Original author: BitKeep Wallet CEO Kevin
Dear BitKeep users:
40 hours have passed since the 1226 hacking incident. As the CEO of BitKeep, I work tirelessly with the entire technical team to solve problems. We are very sad for the users who were attacked and their losses. With the support of users, as well as the joint efforts of the technical team and partners, the whole incident has made some positive progress: we have frozen part of the amount of the hackers, and recovered the rest of the users Lost jobs are also in full swing.
This is a massive, egregious hacking incident. The BitKeep APK 7.2.9 installation package was hijacked and replaced by hackers, so some users used the application package that had been implanted by hackers, resulting in the leakage of private keys. Again, I would like to appeal to all users. For the safety of your assets, if you download and update version 7.2.9 through the Android APK, there is a certain probability that the private key has been leaked. Please transfer the assets to the newly generated wallet address as soon as possible.
Since the theft in the early hours of yesterday, we have actively explored countermeasures and made multiple efforts: we quickly contacted the security team such as SlowMist and other partners to track the funds, and tried our best to lock and freeze the stolen funds of users; on the other hand, We actively collect information about the theft of users' assets, trace the source of the stolen currency process and timeline, and collect all the evidence that hackers hijacked version 729 using alternative packages. The team will continue to announce the progress on Twitter.
The BitKeep team is currently very stable, and I and other core members will go all out to recover assets for users, which is the most important thing right now. Thereafter, we will completely refactor and upgrade our technical solutions, putting security at the center of our entire business. Users who lose coins don’t have to worry, we will definitely give you a satisfactory explanation.
Finally, I would like to say to all the users who support BitKeep, respectable and lovely colleagues, and long-term cooperation partners: Our determination to do a good job in BitKeep will not back down, and our mission to make BitKeep the best quality and safest wallet will not Nothing will change in our vision of making BitKeep users the most secure users of crypto.
Phoenix Nirvana, we will definitely be stronger!
Kevin,BitKeep CEO
