Filecoin v13 "HyperDrive" network upgrade unlocks 10-25x storage rate
According to the latest official news from Filecoin, the Filecoin V13 "HyperDrive" network will be upgraded in the next few weeks. Due to the update of the Filecoin proof system, the storage rate will be increased by 10-25 times. (Note: It depends on how the storage service provider uses (or provides) the new batch aggregation number).

That’s why CryptoNetLab and CyptoComputeLab have been hard at work since the network’s launch — racing to increase mainnet capacity and unlock Filecoin Network’s capacity growth rate. Increasing the capacity of the mainnet has many benefits:
Allows current storage service providers to utilize additional storage capacity more quickly and cheaply.
Make room for new storage providers and quickly scale their business by more PiB (or EiB) of storage capacity.
Increase mainnet bandwidth for other key functions, such as continuous storage verification, transactions, and new account creation.
Lower gas fees for new storage transactions, making it cheaper to store useful data on Filecoin!
Filecoin is a practical storage network whose mission is to create a distributed, efficient, and powerful foundation for human information. Therefore, storage capacity needs to increase exponentially to keep up with the global data growth.
Instead of the wasteful POW proof-of-work blockchain, Filecoin's proof of storage (including proof of replication and proof of space) is committed to building a large-scale decentralized data center to store human data, so that the mining process is safe for the world. it works.

Filecoin v13 HyperDrive upgrade: what it means for storage service providers
The HyperDrive upgrade is scheduled to take place in mid-June, which is a big event for all Filecoin Network participants. Storage clients and application developers will benefit from increased message throughput, improving overall network availability.
In fact, the new economies of scale and faster startup speed brought about by this upgrade will benefit Filecoin storage service providers the most. Higher capacity growth rates also create opportunities for new storage service providers to quickly become major players in the Filecoin network.
Now, with improvements to HyperDrive, such storage providers can bring their proof-of-promise to aggregate fewer messages on-chain, rapidly increasing network speed while saving mainnet storage space. If all miners follow this practice, the current storage rate (now over 100% mainnet capacity) may account for less than 5% of the new mainnet capacity!
This has significant implications for miners: the opportunity to increase revenue by increasing their share of the Filecoin network block reward, which currently rewards ~370,000 FIL/day of mining rewards per day, and the need to leverage new optimizations to keep up with peers challenge. Miners who are slow to adapt to the new way of operating may see their allocated output decrease relative to their peers. So don't miss this opportunity!

Corresponding updates will also be posted in the #fil-announcements and #fil-lotus threads on the Filecoin Project Slack.
Increase Filecoin main network capacity through SnarkPack
Thanks to the update of the Filecoin Proofs system, the Filecoin v13 HyperDrive network upgrade is possible. Over the past few months, CryptoNetLab and CyptoComputeLab have designed and implemented major improvements to Filecoin's proof mechanism to unlock increased scalability and ease network congestion. Their hard work resulted in two highly anticipated FIPs (Filecoin Improvement Proposals) that will bring significant scalability improvements to Filecoin:
FIP-0013: Add ProveCommitAggregated method to reduce on-chain congestion
FIP-0008: Add miner batch sector pre-submission method
At their core, these FIPs require the aggregation and compression of multiple proof verifications (landed on-chain in the form of SNARKs) into a single aggregated message that takes up less chain bandwidth.
To date, the Filecoin network is the system that produces the largest number of SNARKs, producing and verifying more than 5 million SNARKs every day! To meet these important scalability requirements, CryptoNetLab is proud to release SnarkPack, a novel strategy for scaling SNARK proofs through aggregation.
SnarkPack builds on the "internal pairing product" work of Bünz et al. and produces proofs quickly and rigorously for Filecoin's proof system. In addition to significant performance optimizations, SnarkPack uses a novel commitment scheme for proof-of-aggregation without additional trusted settings. Making it easy to upgrade so it can be deployed on the live Filecoin network.
You can read more about how SnarkPack works in SnarkPack Deep Learning or Cryptology ePrint.
SnarkPack provides a solution to FIP0013 by adding a ProveCommitAggregate method for miners to aggregate ProveCommit receipts from multiple departments into a single on-chain message.
Using this new approach, some redundant and costly processes can be removed, and other checks can now be amortized across multiple departments, greatly reducing the amount of attestation and verification time for each department.
To ensure that small miners can also take advantage of these optimizations, the window for precommit and ProveCommit messages has been extended so that small miners can aggregate all proofs within that window into a single on-chain message.
Performance benchmarks so far have been impressive. SnarkPack can aggregate 8192 SNARK proofs in 8 seconds on a 64-thread/32-core AMD Ryzen™ Threadripper CPU, producing proofs that are 38 times smaller in size and can be verified in 33ms, including deserialization! With this new feature, miners will be able to aggregate proofs for up to 819 ministries and submit only one message.

Upgrade timeline and other features
In addition to FIP0013 and FIP0008, Actors v5 (the product included in the Filecoin v13 HyperDrive Network upgrade) also has some useful improvements, such as FIP-0012: Recharge DataCap for FIL+ client addresses, so that customers who have verified Filecoin Plus Recharge DataCap on the terminal.
In the past, each new DataCap allocation request needed to target a unique address, adding operational overhead to servicing hundreds of DataCap allocation requests since program startup. Now, with FIP0012, FIL+ clients will be able to get more DataCap in their existing addresses, improving the transaction experience for both clients and miners. These functional improvements will continue to make Filecoin a more useful and important data storage network that humans rely on.

Going forward, there is still a lot of work to be done to make Filecoin the best storage network for storage providers and users. Although the Filecoin v13 HyperDrive upgrade is a huge leap in mainnet capacity, CryptoNetLab is continuing to make improvements to enable full exponential scaling capabilities and to enhance Filecoin's PoRep scheme to be able to upgrade committed capacity sectors through user submissions without resizing Encapsulation!
In the short term, there is also a clear opportunity for network-level proof-of-aggregator nodes, which aggregate messages from many different miners to further increase throughput. These aggregators can batch many ProveCommit messages across different miners, which speeds up aggregation and ensures that small miners with limited packaging resources can take full advantage of aggregation optimizations. Other improvements like this can be found in subsequent network upgrades!
