On November 3, AragonOne CEO Jorge stated on its official forum, "We propose to use ANT as a pledge token to deploy an upgraded instance of the Aragon court as the Aragon protocol."

Currently, management of the Aragon court agreement is only granted to ANT holders, and the right to participate in the court (earning dispute handling and usage fees) is only granted to ANJ holders. This separation is believed to be necessary in order to isolate the court participation incentives from those of other potential service protocols that may be created in the future and be related to ANT, such as the Aragon chain, and to ensure that court participant incentives are sufficiently differentiated.

If the proposal votes to pass:

  • Aragon One will review and deploy an upgraded version of the original court protocol with some enhancements such as modifying time-based collateral parameters, adjudication delegation for cold/hot wallet settings, more flexible payment system and improved upgrade process, etc. , Aragon One hopes, but does not promise, that the Aragon protocol will be live and operational by the end of 2020.

  • Deployed instances of Aragon One will be called the Aragon Protocol and will use ANT as a collateral token.

  • Aragon Governance will use the Aragon Protocol as its default resolver to resolve optimistic voting challenges and subjective voting disputes. Other products and projects developed by Aragon One funded by the Aragon Association will use the Aragon protocol if subjective oracles are required.

  • Aragon One will immediately cease maintaining the Aragon Court and instead focus on building and enhancing the Aragon protocol.

  • For at least 45 days after the vote passes, Aragon One will shut down all infrastructure supporting the Aragon Court. Given that all the code is open source, those interested can easily run these services.

  • The Aragon Association will no longer license the Aragon Court codebase or any of its supporting services, it will remain available under the GPL-3.0 license or whatever current license the different components have (some parts are MIT licensed and will remain MIT licensed)
