The data indicated that 92% of these incidents were for financial reasons, while only 3% were for the purpose of espionage against businesses within the education sector.

Ransomware attacks have increased dramatically since 2019

Ransomware attacks are growing at an alarming rate. Currently, ransomware accounts for the vast majority of all cyberattacks, and ransomware accounted for only 48% of all attacks in 2019. Phishing is partly to blame for this, with ransomware attacks more commonly via fake websites than emails.
