At 20:00 on February 18th, the 50th BlockMania AMA live broadcast will continue. BlockMania is committed to bringing the deepest cognition and thinking of the blockchain industry to the industry and the public. We welcome other communities to cooperate with us to create a connection of ideas amps and amplifiers.
The theme of this issue is "Conflux's Public Chain Ecological Roadmap". The guest speaker is Conflux Technology and Business Director Shang Shu, Master of Computer Science at Tsinghua University, former Nebulas chief R&D engineer, head of the main chain team, and chief editor of the technical white paper. The author of the public account "Block Don't Talk", technical consultant of Chain Block Academy, technical expert of Blockchain Base Camp, and former CTO of TOTFREE. He shared Conflux's ecological construction roadmap, as well as the development status and prospects of domestic public chains and alliance chains.

The following is the full review of this AMA
Can you briefly introduce Conflux and the concept of Conflux's ecological construction?
Conflux is a public chain that takes the lead in achieving high TPS with the PoW consensus mechanism without sacrificing any degree of decentralization and security.
In November 2018, Conflux completed the first round of financing of US$35 million. Investors include Sequoia Capital, Shunwei Capital, Baidu Ventures, Fengrui Capital, IMO Ventures, MetaStable, Fundamental Labs, etc.
The test network was officially launched in April 2019, and the main network was originally planned to be launched at the end of March this year. However, due to the impact of the epidemic, Conflux's mainnet launch will be postponed until April. The Conflux mainnet will be divided into three stages, and the functions launched in each stage are different.
The Conflux ecosystem will be built around the "1+1+N" system:
The first "1" is the tree map research institute jointly established by us and Shanghai, which continues to explore the performance and functional boundaries of blockchain technology and consolidates the underlying infrastructure;
The second "1" is a blockchain application incubator led by Conflux, which provides comprehensive support for sustainable blockchain projects;
The last "N" is a key support benchmark project, a series of DeFi projects based on DEX, and a series of DAO projects based on the evolution of Bounty, laying the foundation for the flow of asset value and productivity value on the Conflux chain. Of course, there are also cross-border payments, games, certificate deposits, etc. These things are several directions that we and our partners are advancing together.
We have noticed that Conflux recently established the Treemap Research Institute. Can you introduce the original intention of the establishment of the Treemap Research Institute and the role it will play in the Conflux ecosystem in the future?
As mentioned above, Conflux and the Shanghai Municipal Government established a blockchain research institute in Shanghai, also known as the Treemap Research Institute, which mainly researches public chain technology.
In addition to providing infrastructure, we will also seek more policies for the entire industry to empower more applications with ideas, so that it can grow bigger on our chain and make the entire ecology more complete .
Treemap Research Institute is an important part of our large ecological layout "1+1+N". We will explore the technical and regulatory problems faced by sustainable blockchain applications on the platform of Treemap Research Institute solution.
How do you see the current development of domestic alliance chains and public chains? Is it possible to combine the two?
We rarely mention the definition of alliance chain at present, and prefer to use industrial blockchain. The core value of the blockchain is the confirmation of data rights. It is naturally a safe data sharing platform. The difference between the industrial blockchain and the public chain mainly lies in the extent to which data sharing is required.
The alliance chain and the public chain mentioned by everyone in the future will be mutually supportive. The alliance chain and the public chain can be combined in a cross-chain way to bring more choices to users. On the other hand, with the advancement of public chain technology, the performance bottleneck brought by the consensus mechanism is gradually eliminated, which indirectly promotes the progress of the alliance chain, and the two will tend to be consistent.
Industrial blockchains are like capillaries that can be deeply adapted to different regulatory environments, but to further break down data islands and form larger-scale data sharing, capillaries need to be brought together to the aorta, and the public chain is the most important here. Good choice.
I heard that Conflux is also actively developing alliance chains. What application scenarios will it be implemented in? Can you tell us about Conflux's vision for the alliance?
At present, each company has its own focus in terms of government services, supply chain management, and financial services. It mainly combines each company's understanding of specific industry scenarios and its own business resources. Each field is solidly implementing projects.
This market is huge and is just beginning to flourish. The general impression is that government services are slower than commercial scenarios. This situation will change in the future. We see more and more central enterprises and state-owned enterprises actively participating in government informatization construction, and we will actively embrace such cooperation Partners, complement each other's strengths and jointly implement comprehensive information construction projects.
In addition, in terms of the supply chain, we welcome companies in the cultural, medical, food and agricultural trade industries to jointly implement a comprehensive traceability and trading platform for the industrial chain during the implementation of the case.
Q&A
Q1: Monero has updated the protocol to not allow ASIC mining. Is Conflux also ASIC-resistant? For example, how does the foundation control the infinite superposition of mine tyrants?
The PoW mining algorithm of Conflux’s main network has not been made public yet, but in the future the main network will definitely adopt a graphics card-friendly anti-asic mining algorithm, and the infinite superposition of mining bullies, I personally think it’s the same as mining bullies deliberately forking, If it does not exceed 50%, other miners can solve it.
Q2: How is the proportion q of bad guys in the Blaming mechanism calculated?
Hypothetical, just like the assumption of bad guys’ computing power in the block confirmation. In addition, a 51% attack requires a lot of cost, so whether this attack is profitable depends on the competition between the computing power of the community participants and the attacker's attack income.
Q3: How to ensure that the assumed q is correctly estimated or the accuracy is within a certain confidence interval? How to estimate and calculate this q?
All PoW chains, q values are based on assumptions. For example, under 6 confirmation blocks of Bitcoin, if you assume that q<0.1,Then the security of the transaction is 99.99%. If you assume q<0.3, the security is 97%. If you assume q<0.6, the security is always 0.
Q4: In the alliance chain, several alliance giants have. The right to write and read data. And other normal ordinary people only have the right to read in the data, right? So if several alliance giants want to tamper with the data, how to solve it? Is it not tamper-resistant like the public chain, or is the cost of tampering relatively high, 51% attack?
In the scenario, the giant has the power to produce and verify blocks. The read and write permissions depend on how the specific application is designed. Although non-verification nodes cannot produce blocks, they can synchronize blocks. If the giants really tamper with the data, the nodes that have synchronized the information cannot stop it, but they can be found. The consortium chain is an agreement to reach a consensus within the consortium. If most authorized nodes in the consortium participate in data tampering, then this behavior is also a consensus reached by the majority within the consortium. In theory, we also need to accept it.
Q5: Does the Tree Map Research Institute jointly established by Conflux and Shanghai have clear goals for ecological applications?
In the past year, many high-quality online AMA activities have been held around topics such as the blockchain market, technology, and applications. Welcome to pay attention.
BlockMania is a blockchain consulting think tank, aiming to bring the deepest cognition and thinking of the blockchain industry to the industry and the public. Just like the blockchain, we believe that each idea has the possibility of becoming a node by connecting to other ideas, so we want to build a platform that connects ideas from points to lines, and from lines to a network.
