Odaily reports: The European Central Bank (ECB) is recruiting e-commerce and mobile commerce merchants to participate in a digital euro pilot. The pilot will launch in the second half of 2027 and last for 12 months.
The pilot will use a test currency similar to the digital euro but without legal tender status to test online and offline payments, preparing for a possible digital euro issuance in 2029. Odaily reports that Simon Dedic, founder and managing partner of Moonrock Capital, stated that the U.S. Senate will vote on the Clarity Act in approximately 10 hours. As Democrats have already verbally rejected the Republican draft on grounds of "ethical concerns," the probability of the related Polymarket event has dropped significantly, and he believes the market has fully priced in the negative outcome of the bill failing to pass.
Dedic stated that even if the Clarity Act fails to pass, the SEC could still introduce similarly pro-crypto regulatory policies; if neither path materializes, the U.S. could face the risk of crypto and frontier financial companies relocating overseas. He believes the U.S. will not allow this to happen, and therefore the Clarity Act will ultimately pass, adding that the crypto industry "will win regardless."
