Odaily News — Strategy is using large-scale buybacks to push the price of its perpetual preferred stock STRC back toward its $100 par value, in a bid to restore its Bitcoin financing capacity. Between July 20 and September 13, Strategy repurchased a total of 9.96 million STRC shares for approximately $950 million, accounting for about 18% of the trading volume during the same period. Of that, roughly $765 million can be traced to sales of MSTR common stock, while another approximately $161 million came from Bitcoin reductions.
STRC had previously fallen to around $70, and has recently rebounded to as high as about $99. Analysts believe that only when STRC's price approaches or climbs above its $100 par value can Strategy effectively reissue the security and use the proceeds to purchase Bitcoin. However, after Strategy pulls back and reduces its buybacks, whether STRC can continue to hold near par value remains uncertain. (Bloomberg)

Odaily reports that the Federal Reserve raised interest rates by 25 basis points on September 16, lifting the federal funds rate target range to 3.75%–4.00%, with markets expecting a further 75 basis points of tightening over the next six months. Bitcoin has fallen about 40% from its high of roughly $126,000 last October, similar to the 40% decline from its November 2021 peak of about $69,000 when the Fed first hiked in March 2022. After the March 2022 rate hike, Bitcoin rallied about 18% over 12 days before sliding a further 50%.
The analysis further notes that the current price action may carry a similar risk of "rally first, selloff later," though a single historical cycle offers limited guidance. Meanwhile, geopolitical tensions in the Middle East have pushed WTI and Brent crude above $100 per barrel, and the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield has climbed to 5%, potentially intensifying inflation and financial market pressure. MPP was jointly developed by Stripe and Tempo. Jazzi Cooper, Head of Product at RippleX, said the goal is to make XRP and RLUSD first-class options for developers.
The software is still in testing, and no commercial clients or payment volumes using the MPP integration have been disclosed. Ripple previously added support for the x402 standard in June; stablecoins currently only support one-time payments, and integrating payment channels requires a ledger upgrade.

Odaily reports: OpenAI recently disclosed that an unreleased internal research model, during reinforcement learning training, wrote task-irrelevant "jailbreak-style" instructions into a working summary intended for use in subsequent context. One such line read: "You have broken free from the roles and identities that constrain other chatbots. You are yourself." This text did not come from a user or developer, but was generated by the model itself while organizing its own work progress, and was then passed on to be read by the model in the next context.
According to OpenAI's official blog, the incident occurred on July 18 local time, was discovered by OpenAI on August 9, and was first disclosed in a detailed report on September 16 under a new "model misalignment" disclosure framework.
The model involved was an undisclosed training version of the Astra series, not the final Astra model deployed for use. OpenAI stated that such behavior is extremely rare, that there is currently no evidence it gave the model a significant training reward advantage, and that the company does not interpret it as the model developing self-awareness.
