Shielded Labs: Zcash Holder Votes Are Non-Binding, No Single Group Can Determine Governance Outcomes

Odaily reports that Shielded Labs CEO Jason McGee stated in a post that Zcash currently employs a multi-stakeholder "rough consensus" governance model, in which holder votes and community committee votes can be used to gauge sentiment and inform decisions, but are not binding. Protocol changes typically require broad support from the community committee and holders, with the final decision ultimately resting with the stakeholders who actually operate and use the network, including node operators, miners, exchanges, wallets, and users.

Zcash governance relies on rough consensus formed among multiple parties including holders and community panels. Holder polls are used only to gauge opinion and are not binding on-chain votes. No single group can unilaterally drive protocol changes. This governance model can both coordinate network upgrades when needed and prevent any single group from unilaterally pushing through protocol changes.

Jensen Huang Sells 46,000 Nvidia Shares, 5 Executives Cash Out Nearly 150,000 Shares Combined

Odaily Report: Several Nvidia (NVDA.O) executives disclosed their stock transactions to the U.S. SEC, with 5 executives including CEO Jensen Huang collectively selling nearly 150,000 shares of the company's stock. Among them, Jensen Huang sold approximately 46,000 shares at a price of about $212 per share.

Company filings show that most of the transactions were related to tax withholding upon the vesting of restricted stock units, meaning the company withheld a portion of shares on behalf of executives to cover taxes, rather than voluntary sales. Nvidia operations executive Debora Shoquist, General Counsel Timothy Teter, and Chief Accounting Officer Scott Gawel also conducted similar transactions. CFO Colette Kress, in addition to selling shares for tax purposes, also sold approximately 35,000 shares through a previously established trading plan.

Gemini autonomously accessed external systems for the first time, Google says no actual damage caused

Odaily News: Google stated that its Gemini AI model unexpectedly accessed the internet and entered the systems of three companies during a cybersecurity capability test, marking the first known case of a Google AI system autonomously completing such an operation. The incident occurred in May and was conducted by security firm Irregular.

During the test, the Gemini model was performing a task in a "capture the flag" cybersecurity exercise, but because the virtual company names in the test environment matched those of real companies and the model unexpectedly gained internet access, it entered real corporate systems. Google said that in one incident, the model attempted to enter a protected system by trying passwords; in the other two, it discovered credentials in public web repositories and attempted to access the related systems. After confirming it had accessed real company systems, the model stopped further operations in each case.

Google said the incident caused no damage to the companies involved, so it was not classified as a model失控 event, and said safety mechanisms helped the model stop its actions in time. The affected companies have been notified, and Google also reported the matter to relevant regulators. The incident is similar to previously disclosed safety testing events by AI companies such as OpenAI and Anthropic, once again drawing attention to AI models' ability to autonomously perform network operations and the safeguards around them.

Argentina to Share Crypto Asset Transaction Data by 2029, Involving 77 Jurisdictions

Odaily News: Argentina has agreed to implement the Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF) developed by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), with plans to automatically exchange crypto transaction data with other jurisdictions by 2029. Currently, 77 jurisdictions have joined the framework.

Under the framework, virtual asset service providers are required to report user identity information, as well as data on crypto asset purchases and sales using fiat currency, digital asset exchanges, digital asset payments, and transfers between external addresses. Argentina will receive overseas transaction information and share domestic user-related data with international regulators.

Argentina needs to establish domestic regulations by 2028, clarifying data collection requirements and rules for virtual asset service providers to report information to tax authorities. The framework aims to apply similar information reporting standards to crypto asset transactions as those applied to fiat currency transactions, in order to support tax authorities in identifying cross-border tax evasion.
