Odaily News: OpenAI has announced the launch of GPT-6.1 Sol, which the company says delivers performance "close" to GPT-6 Astra, with standard API pricing at roughly one-fifth of Astra's.

Sol is currently available for ChatGPT Work, Codex, and the API, while general Chat conversations are not yet supported. Its context window is approximately 1.05 million tokens. OpenAI also stated that this week, API prices for GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna will be uniformly reduced by about 50%. Tibo explained that as model efficiency improves, fewer credits can theoretically accomplish a similar amount of work, and promised that the previous 5-hour limit will not be reintroduced. However, there is currently no empirical data comparing the old and new plans. Regarding subscription benefits, some users claim that GPT-6 Astra credits will be halved, while others suggest that given the price cuts for Sol and Luna, the actual change when using these two models does not amount to a reduction in credits.

Previously, after Anthropic released Claude Sonnet 5.5, users began comparing usage allowances and pricing advantages across different plans. Some users estimated that with the $200 plan, the credits available when using Sonnet 5.5 could reach several times that of the corresponding GPT plan.

OpenAI is still advancing products based on GPT-6 Astra, including a continuously running agent feature called "dots," where each agent has an independent cloud computer and can handle tasks around the clock. This feature is being offered to Pro, Business Premium, and Enterprise users.
