Riot Platforms Repays $200M Coinbase Collateralized Loan, Releasing 5,821 BTC in Pledged Assets
According to a filing submitted by Riot Platforms to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the company voluntarily repaid all outstanding borrowings and accrued interest owed to Coinbase Credit on September 21, and terminated its previously $200 million credit facility, incurring no early termination fees or penalties. The loan had been fully drawn by Riot, carried a fixed annual interest rate of 6.15%, and had an original maturity date of April 20, 2027. As of June 30, Riot had pledged 5,821 BTC as collateral for the loan, valued at approximately $340.7 million, representing roughly 51% of the company's total BTC holdings at the time; with the loan repaid, Coinbase's security interest in the related collateral has been released accordingly. Riot initially secured a $100 million Bitcoin-backed loan in April 2025 and increased the facility to $200 million the following month. This repayment comes approximately 7 months ahead of the amended maturity date.
