Solana Alpenglow upgrade goes live on second public testnet, targeting 150ms settlement

Odaily reports: Solana's Alpenglow upgrade has gone live on devnet and testnet, aiming to reduce transaction settlement time from 12.8 seconds to approximately 150 milliseconds.

The upgrade changes how validators reach consensus and moves validator votes out of blocks; even with user activity unchanged, the reported total transaction count will decrease. The mainnet launch date has not yet been determined, and the 150ms target has not yet been consistently achieved in a live market environment. (CoinDesk)
