ZachXBT: Hacker Withdraws 3200 ETH, Then Launders Approximately $5.5 Million via Circle CCTP Cross-Chain Bridge

Odaily reports that according to ZachXBT’s monitoring, a hacker withdrew approximately 3200 ETH from Tornado Cash between July 2nd and 3rd. The funds are linked to two separate private key leak incidents. Subsequently, the hacker laundered about $5.5 million worth of assets across chains using Circle’s CCTP cross-chain bridge, transferring the USDC to 7 deposit addresses on the Arbitrum network.

ZachXBT stated that the flow of funds indicates a decentralized money laundering strategy, utilizing mixing tools and cross-chain infrastructure to make tracking more difficult. Currently, the related on-chain assets are still in continuous circulation.
