Morningstar: Uncertainty Over Potential CapEx of Samsung and SK Hynix May Weigh on Their Stock Prices
Odaily Odaily News: Morningstar analyst Jing Jie Yu stated that market uncertainty over the potential capital expenditure (CapEx) of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix may be weighing on their stock prices. He pointed out that the combined CapEx of these two companies over the next decade could reach approximately 2,000 trillion won, nearly double Morningstar's current forecast. This may include SK Hynix's plan to invest in AI data centers, with its committed investment for the Yongin wafer cluster already expected to reach 600 trillion won.
The analyst noted that if SK Hynix's commitment to investing in AI data centers and its potential capital expenditure plan are two separate investments, memory chip makers would face a significant risk of oversupply, as market demand typically slows when the CapEx cycle enters its final stages.
