Aave Governance Dispute Escalates: ACI Releases "Aave Labs Audit" Report, Tensions Rise Ahead of $51 Million Funding Proposal
Odaily News The governance conflict within the Aave community has intensified once again. On the eve of a Snapshot vote for a proposal dubbed "the largest funding request in Aave's history" at $51 million, the Aave Chan Initiative (ACI) and its founder, Marc Zeller, released an "audit" report targeting Aave Labs, sparking widespread discussion.
ACI stated on social media that before the "$51M Aave Will Win" proposal enters the Snapshot voting stage, the community should examine Aave Labs' past performance and its use of approximately $86 million in cumulative funding. Zeller mentioned that ACI has already released its own transparency report and has applied the framework of "what was delivered, at what cost, and what was the return" to evaluate Aave Labs in the same manner. The report points out that Aave Labs' cumulative "total capitalization" is around $86 million, including: $16.2 million raised from the 2017 ICO, $32.5 million from VC funding rounds, $31.93 million in direct grants from the DAO, and approximately $5.5 million referred to as "unauthorized" swap fees.
Zeller also noted that the founding team initially held 23% of the LEND supply (later migrated to AAVE), but the current AAVE holdings have not been publicly disclosed.
The report questions why Aave Labs has not yet released an "accountability report" containing cost-benefit ratios, financial disclosures, and wallet transparency, suggesting that information disclosure remains insufficient despite receiving substantial long-term funding. (The Block)
