CZ: Lack of Privacy is the Final Hurdle for Crypto Payments

2026-02-16 06:55

Odaily News Binance founder CZ stated at the 2026 World Economic Forum that despite the rapid development of L2 networks, almost no one uses cryptocurrency for payments in daily transactions. He pointed out that the current main obstacle is no longer the high fees and slow speeds of the past decade, but the complete lack of transaction privacy on public blockchains. For example, businesses cannot use a public ledger to pay suppliers without exposing their entire balance, other vendors, and precise cash flow to competitors. CZ's vision is an "invisible track," where blockchain will serve as the backend infrastructure for existing payment providers, making transactions faster and cheaper without end-users being aware, and the industry should pragmatically integrate with traditional finance. Regarding global regulation, he proposed a "regulatory passport" model, where a license obtained in one reputable jurisdiction can be recognized in multiple regions. CZ also predicted that cryptocurrency will become the native currency for the emerging autonomous AI agent "machine economy."
