Odaily Planet Daily News The Connecticut Federal Prosecutor's Office stated that three men from St. Louis—Sedric Louis, John Davis, and Martel Williams—were charged with conspiracy to interfere with commerce through robbery, allegedly planning to break into a residence and force victims to transfer cryptocurrency linked to a Bitcoin theft involving hundreds of millions of dollars. Each faces up to 20 years in prison.

Prosecutors allege that from August 21 to 24, 2024, the three traveled to Connecticut, rented a car, and prepared items such as air guns and walkie-talkies. They surveilled the target and the target's parents for two consecutive days before abandoning the plan due to concerns that the residence's security cameras would record their movements. Subsequently, another group from Florida carried out the same plan and had six people arrested on August 25 in connection with a carjacking involving a Lamborghini Urus.

Louis and Davis have been detained since their arrest on June 25 and pleaded not guilty in Bridgeport Federal Court on July 30; Williams entered the same plea on July 17 and was released on bail. Prosecutors stated that the abduction targets were the parents of individuals involved in the hundreds-of-millions-dollar Bitcoin theft, and that the indictment does not constitute evidence of guilt.
