Odaily Planet Daily News: The U.S. Senate once again rejected the funding bills proposed by both the Republicans and the Democrats, failing to end the eight-day government shutdown with no sign of a solution. In a 54-45 vote, the Senate failed to advance the Republican-led temporary appropriations bill, which would have provided funding for the government until late November. Another alternative appropriations bill supported by the Democrats was also rejected by a vote of 47 to 52. The three Democratic senators who supported the Republicans in the previous vote again supported the Republicans in Wednesday's vote. Republican Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky once again stood with the Democrats to oppose the Republican proposal. The two competing temporary appropriations measures failed to pass in the previous five votes. (Jinshi)
