Gate C2C launches Shield merchant service, comprehensively upgrading user rights protection
2hours ago

According to Odaily, the crypto asset trading platform Gate announced that its C2C platform will officially launch the Shield Merchant Service Mechanism on September 15, 2025. This mechanism establishes a unique merchant certification system through margin requirements, strict qualification review, and risk assessment. It also provides joint compensation support in extreme situations such as when users encounter judicial freezes due to transactions with Shield merchants.

According to official rules, if a user's transaction receipt is frozen by judicial authorities due to reasons related to a SHIELD merchant, the platform will compensate them at a rate of 20% of the order amount, with a maximum limit of 2,000 USDT per transaction, with the merchant and the platform each bearing 50%. If the merchant fails to pay the compensation, the platform will directly deduct the amount from their security deposit.

Currently, the Shield service is available for Gate C2C's CNY fiat currency trading zone and is only supported via the web. While protecting user rights, this service also strengthens merchant credit, creating a more robust and trustworthy environment for C2C transactions.
