US court ruling allows Cook to vote at next week's FOMC meeting
7hours ago
Nick Timiraos, a vocal advocate for the Federal Reserve, posted on social media that US Federal Reserve Judge Jia Cobb has temporarily blocked Trump's removal of Federal Reserve Board Governor Tim Cook. The court will issue an injunction directing Powell and the Board of Governors to allow Cook to continue serving on the board during the litigation.
But the preliminary ruling by Jia Cobb left unresolved the key question of whether the Trump administration's allegations that Cook engaged in mortgage fraud before taking office constitute sufficient grounds for removal from office. The case is expected to ultimately reach the U.S. Supreme Court.
