Hong Kong law enforcement arrested two criminals who stole electricity to mine virtual currencies, and they may be imprisoned for up to 5 years.
8hours ago

Odaily Planet Daily reported that Hong Kong law enforcement agencies arrested two local men on suspicion of installing mining machines in a home for people with disabilities in Cheung Sha Wan to mine virtual currencies, causing the home to suffer additional losses of up to HK$9,000 in related expenses. The two men have been temporarily charged with stealing electricity and the case is still under investigation.

It is reported that stealing electricity is a serious crime in Hong Kong. According to the Theft Ordinance, anyone who dishonestly uses electricity without proper authority, or dishonestly causes electricity to be wasted or diverted elsewhere is guilty of a crime and may be sentenced to up to five years' imprisonment.
