Odaily Planet Daily reported that Bill Pulte, director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) and a staunch ally of Trump, urged Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate two mortgage transactions by Federal Reserve Board Governor Cook. In a letter to Bondi and Department of Justice official Ed Martin on August 15, Pulte said that Cook "falsified bank documents and property records to obtain more favorable loan terms, which may constitute mortgage fraud under criminal law." He said that Cook had purchased a property in Ann Arbor, Michigan and applied for a loan, promising to use it as his primary residence for at least one year, but two weeks later applied for another mortgage in Georgia, also stating that it would be his primary residence. Pulte also cited four criminal law provisions and suggested that Bondi investigate whether there are potential crimes.
