Thapaliya, a participant behind the Movement, disclosed the inside story of the airdrop and pointed the finger at Cooper

Odaily News Sam Thapaliya posted a post on the X platform, clarifying the details of his early involvement in the Movement project. He revealed that he had assisted Movement co-founder Cooper in incubating the Move language-based project Satay, and provided Cooper with multi-faceted support in the early days of Movement, including financing and token economic model advice.
Thapaliya revealed that when Cooper transformed and started MVMT Labs (before Rushi joined the team), he provided Cooper with many kinds of advice and support, and worked closely with him to launch Movement. After co-founder Rushi joined the team and took charge of technology, the project vision began to really come true. Thapaliya then focused on marketing, and when the project approached TGE, he worked with Cooper again, especially to provide advice on the upcoming airdrop plan.
Thapaliya further noted that Cooper tasked him with finding a data science team to audit the proposed airdrop dataset after the Movement team discovered that the dataset they relied on did not accurately reflect testnet usage. Due to the many issues with the dataset, he suggested that Cooper flatten the rewards for all airdrop participants. However, during this time, Cooper insisted that a specific 75,000 wallets receive the highest percentage of tokens per wallet. In addition, Thapaliya also showed a heat map and pointed out that these wallets were almost the only addresses that claimed and were able to bundle and sell more than 60 million MOVE tokens in the Move token airdrop on December 9, 2024.
