Kraken uncovers North Korean hackers' infiltration attempt posing as job seekers

Odaily News Kraken, a US cryptocurrency exchange, has revealed that its team discovered a North Korean hacker posing as an engineering job applicant in an attempt to infiltrate the company. Kraken identified the email used by the candidate as being associated with a hacker group after receiving warnings from industry partners about North Korean hackers targeting crypto businesses. Through open source intelligence analysis, the security team discovered that the hacker used multiple fake identities to apply for positions at multiple companies and found technical anomalies such as the use of VPNs and forged identity documents. Kraken eventually revealed his identity through verification testing and reported it to US authorities.
