Ledger helps rival Trezor fix hardware wallet security flaw
Odaily News The open source research department of hardware wallet provider Ledger discovered a security vulnerability in the microcontroller of the Trezor Safe 3 and Safe 5 models, which could allow hackers to attack through voltage transients and bypass security checks. Trezor subsequently fixed the vulnerability and confirmed that user funds are safe. Ledger Chief Technology Officer Charles Guillemet said that improving ecosystem security is crucial to promoting the widespread adoption of cryptocurrencies. Trezor has introduced the "Secure Elements" chip in its devices, which effectively blocks low-cost hardware attacks, especially voltage transient attacks. Although the vulnerability has been fixed, Trezor emphasizes that network security is not absolute and recommends users to purchase devices from official channels. (Cointelegraph)
