Beijing Internet Court rules in favor of Justin Sun in defamation lawsuit

Odaily News China's Beijing Internet Court ruled that Mr. Sun Yuchen, global advisor of Huobi HTX and founder of TRON, won a major lawsuit against Sina Finance for infringing his reputation. The court ruled that the special report "FBI Investigates Sun Yuchen!" and related reports published by Sina Finance constituted defamation and damaged Mr. Sun Yuchen's reputation. The court required Sina Finance to delete the infringing content, make a public apology, and pay compensation for mental damages.
It is reported that in March 2022, Sina Finance published a series of untrue reports on Mr. Sun Yuchen on its official website and multiple platforms without verification, including serious false accusations such as suspected insider trading, money laundering, fraud, etc., and used the title of "FBI Investigates Justin Sun" to maliciously mislead the public. Sina Finance failed to fulfill its reasonable verification obligations and caused serious damage to Mr. Sun Yuchen's reputation.
