Odaily News U.S. President Trump has nominated former cryptocurrency executive Jonathan Gould to serve as director of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), the country’s banking regulator.
The White House submitted Gould's nomination to the Senate on February 11. If confirmed, he would serve as Comptroller of the Currency for a five-year term.
Gould, formerly chief legal officer at blockchain infrastructure company Bitfury and currently a partner at law firm Jones Day, previously served as senior deputy supervisor and chief counsel at the OCC from late 2018 to mid-2021 during the first Trump administration, and prior to that, was a director at BlackRock from 2014 to 2018.
The OCC regulates and supervises all U.S. national banks that are part of the Federal Reserve system, such as major banks such as JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America, with the goal of ensuring the safety of the U.S. banking system. (Cointelegraph)
