Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission extends suspension of FTX license until May 30, 2025
2024-11-05 13:52
Odaily News The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) has extended the suspension of FTX.com’s Cyprus Investment Firm (CIF) license, which allowed the insolvent platform to operate across Europe, until May 30, 2025. According to a regulatory notice, during the period of suspension, FTX EU is not allowed to provide services or establish business relationships with any person, nor to accept any new clients. In addition, the company is not allowed to execute any instructions from clients to purchase financial instruments, nor to provide any investment services in or outside Cyprus. Moreover, the suspended brands are not allowed to promote themselves as investment service providers or publish related advertisements. They are also required to close all open positions related to client contracts on the expiration date of the client contract or upon the client’s request, and return all funds and profits. The CySEC’s decision to extend the suspension comes despite FTX EU’s announcement that it has launched a process that allows clients to request a final balance before withdrawing fiat currency funds from their company’s segregated client accounts.
