Meta plans to develop an AI search engine to reduce its reliance on Google and Microsoft Bing, people familiar with the matter said.
2024-10-29 02:17
Odaily News Tech giant Meta is considering creating its own AI search engine to reduce its reliance on existing search products, including Google and Microsoft's Bing. An anonymous person familiar with the matter revealed that the new search engine will create conversational AI-generated summaries of recent information and current events and deliver them to users through Meta's AI chatbot. A dedicated engineering team at Meta has been working on the project for the past eight months to build a database of relevant information for the new search engine to use. Meta's AI chatbot is integrated with the company's suite of social media apps, including Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp, and currently relies on Google and Bing search engines to answer users' questions.
