Vitalik: Starting next year, I will only publicly mention L2 at stage 1 and above, regardless of whether I invest or not

Odaily News Vitalik Buterin said in a post on X: "I'm serious about this. Starting next year, I plan to only publicly mention (in blogs, talks, etc.) L2 that is in stage 1+. There may be a short grace period for really interesting new projects. This is true regardless of whether I invest or not, or whether the parties involved are my friends. Multiple ZK-rollup teams told me that they will enter stage 1 by the end of the year. I'm very happy to see this happen! Of course, we can't throw away the 'training wheels' before ensuring the security of the proof system, that would be irresponsible; but stage 1 (75% of the council members can overturn the proof system, of which 26% and above must be members outside the rollup team) is a very reasonable and moderate milestone. The multi-signatures I have participated in have not had a single activity problem for many years, let alone 26%. The era of rollups as a 'multi-signature upgrade' is coming to an end, and the era of cryptographic trust is coming."
