太空算力初创公司Starcloud完成2.5亿美元新一轮融资,英伟达参投
The Odaily Planet Daily reports that space computing startup Starcloud has announced the completion of a $250 million new funding round, led by Manhattan West Ventures, with participation from Nvidia, Cisco, Benchmark, EQT, and other institutions. Nvidia invested approximately $25 million in this round. The new funds will be used to expand satellite manufacturing facilities and advance the research and development of the next-generation orbital data center satellite, Starcloud-3.
Starcloud revealed that it has already deployed Nvidia H100 data center GPUs in orbit and completed model training based on these GPUs. Currently, most space computing projects use edge computing chips, while Starcloud is collaborating with Nvidia to provide test data for the future Vera Rubin Space-1 GPU, which is specifically designed for space environments. Starcloud CEO Philip Johnston has previously stated plans to mine Bitcoin in space. (TechCrunch)
