Ripple outlines four-phase quantum-resistant upgrade plan for XRP Ledger

Odaily News – Ripple developers have stated that they are formulating a long-term upgrade plan for the XRP Ledger to address the threat posed by quantum computing, aiming to prevent future quantum computers from cracking existing encryption mechanisms and exposing private keys. The plan is divided into four phases, spanning the period before and after the emergence of a serious quantum threat: first, assess the potentially vulnerable parts of the network, then test the performance of alternative encryption schemes under current blockchain workloads; subsequently, run both existing security mechanisms and quantum-resistant alternatives simultaneously, and finally migrate the entire network to the alternative solutions. The plan also includes contingency measures to address scenarios where quantum computing develops faster than expected.
