Odaily News – The State of California's meme coin regulatory bill AB 2409 has passed both the State Assembly and Senate, and now awaits the Governor's signature to become law. The bill prohibits public officials and government employees from issuing meme coins, and starting January 1, 2027, bans the listing and trading of meme coins for California residents. If signed by the Governor, it would become the first state-level law in the U.S. to systematically regulate meme coins.
