Odaily News – The Russian Ministry of Energy, pursuant to Government Decree No. 936, has banned cryptocurrency mining and participation in mining pools in Moscow and parts of Kursk Oblast. The ban remains in effect until December 31, 2032.
This year-round restriction aims to alleviate electricity capacity shortages, as energy-intensive mining facilities continue to pressure regional power grids. Russia legalized registered mining in 2024, and since then, similar bans have been implemented in 10 other regions due to rising electricity demand. (CoinDesk)
