Galaxy Research: Coldcard Attacks Result in Over 1,778 BTC Stolen, Valued at Approximately $112 Million
Odaily News, Galaxy Research stated that attacks related to the Coldcard vulnerability have resulted in at least 1,778 BTC being stolen, valued at approximately $112 million, with final losses likely to be higher. It has tracked 3 major attack waves and over 30 smaller attack footprints, and has additionally identified at least 33 clusters of attacker addresses; no new attack waves with high confidence have been detected since August 6. Approximately 1,531 BTC remain at attacker-controlled addresses, while about 246 BTC have been transferred, with roughly 65% moving through CoinJoin and about 35% flowing to exchanges or cross-chain bridges. Galaxy Research stated that it has provided the list of relevant attack addresses to cryptocurrency exchanges, compliance and investigation agencies, and law enforcement.
